2. Job Purpose
The Principal will provide strategic academic, administrative and operational leadership to Medprime Training College, ensuring the delivery of quality training, effective student management, staff performance, regulatory compliance and achievement of institutional objectives.

The role will be responsible for creating a disciplined, professional and student-centered learning environment while coordinating academic and administrative functions to support institutional growth, quality standards and sustainable performance.

3. Key Responsibilities
A. Academic Leadership & Quality Assurance
• Provide leadership and oversight of all academic programmes and training activities.
• Ensure effective implementation of approved curricula, timetables, teaching plans and academic programmes.
• Monitor teaching, learning and assessment standards across departments.
• Ensure trainers prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment materials and other required academic records.
• Monitor student academic performance and coordinate interventions where performance gaps are identified.
• Promote continuous improvement in teaching methodologies, assessment practices and student learning outcomes.
• Coordinate academic meetings, departmental meetings and review of academic performance.
• Ensure examinations and assessments are properly planned, administered, documented and controlled.
• Work with relevant academic heads to ensure timely preparation and submission of academic records.
B. Staff Leadership & Performance Management
• Provide leadership and direction to academic and administrative teams.
• Set clear performance expectations and monitor staff performance against agreed objectives and KPIs.
• Participate in staff appraisal, performance reviews, coaching and development initiatives.
• Identify staff capacity gaps and recommend appropriate training and development interventions.
• Promote professionalism, teamwork, discipline, accountability and effective communication.
• Address performance, attendance and conduct matters in collaboration with HR and Management.
• Support succession planning and development of academic and supervisory talent.
C. Student Management & Experience
• Ensure students receive a professional, supportive and well-organized learning experience.
• Monitor student attendance, discipline, academic progress, retention and completion.
• Establish effective mechanisms for handling student concerns, complaints and disciplinary matters.
• Ensure students receive timely information regarding academic schedules, examinations, attachments, assessments and other institutional activities.
• Work closely with student affairs and relevant departments to address student welfare and operational concerns.
D. Regulatory Compliance & Institutional Standards
• Ensure the College operates in accordance with applicable Kenyan laws, regulatory requirements and institutional policies.
• Maintain readiness for regulatory inspections, audits, assessments and quality assurance reviews.
• Ensure required academic, staff, student and institutional records are properly maintained and readily available.
• Monitor compliance with applicable TVET, examination, professional body and other regulatory requirements relevant to the College's programmes.
• Coordinate implementation of corrective actions arising from audits, inspections and quality reviews.
• Ensure institutional policies and procedures are effectively implemented within the academic environment.
E. Administration & Operations
• Oversee the effective day-to-day running of the College in collaboration with Management and relevant departments.
• Coordinate academic calendars, timetables, meetings, events and institutional activities.
• Monitor utilization of classrooms, laboratories, training equipment and other learning resources.
• Identify operational challenges affecting academic delivery and recommend practical solutions.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, Admissions, Marketing and other departments to ensure smooth institutional operations.
• Ensure proper documentation, reporting and communication across academic and administrative functions.
F. Enrollment, Retention & Institutional Growth
• Work collaboratively with Admissions, Career Guidance, Sales and Marketing teams to support student recruitment and enrollment objectives.
• Monitor student enrollment, retention and completion trends and provide recommendations to Management.
• Identify factors affecting student conversion, retention and satisfaction and coordinate appropriate interventions.
• Support institutional initiatives aimed at strengthening the College's programmes, student experience and market position.
• Participate in open days, student orientation, career events and other institutional activities where required.
G. Industrial Attachment & Industry Linkages
• Provide oversight of students' industrial attachment and practical training arrangements.
• Ensure students are adequately prepared for attachment and workplace exposure.
• Monitor compliance with institutional attachment procedures and documentation requirements.
• Strengthen relationships with relevant industry partners and institutions to support student placements and practical learning.
• Review feedback from attachment sites and use it to improve student preparation and programme delivery.
H. Reporting & Accountability
• Prepare and submit regular academic and operational reports to Management.
• Provide timely reports on enrollment, student performance, staff performance, attendance, examinations, compliance and other key institutional indicators.
• Maintain accurate records and use institutional data to inform decision-making.
• Escalate significant academic, operational, disciplinary or compliance issues to Management promptly.
• Track implementation of agreed action points and institutional improvement initiatives.

4. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance in the role will be assessed against, among other relevant indicators:
• Academic quality and student learning outcomes.
• Student enrollment, retention and completion.
• Student attendance and discipline.
• Trainer performance and compliance with academic requirements.

5. Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Education Management, Business Administration, Management or a relevant field from a recognized institution.
• Relevant professional qualification or training in education, academic administration or management will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 2-3 years' relevant experience, preferably within a TVET institution, college, university, training institution or comparable educational environment.
• Demonstrated experience in academic leadership, staff supervision and institutional administration.
