Job summary

The Sales Manager is responsible for leading, managing, and motivating a team of seven (7) sales professionals to achieve ambitious revenue targets across all company service lines (cleaning, waste operations, and exhauster services). This role requires a hands-on approach to client acquisition, market expansion, contract negotiation, and consistent field presence. Possession of a valid Driver's License is compulsory for efficient territory management and client meetings.

2. Key Responsibilities and Duties

A. Team Leadership and Performance Management

● Team Oversight: Lead, manage, and mentor a team of 7 sales executives, setting clear performance indicators (KPIs) and sales targets.

● Coaching & Training: Conduct regular coaching sessions, territory reviews, and training to enhance the team's sales skills, product knowledge across all service lines, and negotiation capabilities.

● Recruitment Support: Collaborate with the Recruitment Manager to identify, interview, and onboard new sales talent as needed.

● Accountability: Implement a robust accountability framework, tracking team performance daily/weekly against targets and implementing corrective actions where necessary.


B. Sales Strategy and Execution

● Market Expansion: Develop and execute strategic sales plans to expand market share, particularly within commercial sectors (hospitality, corporate, real estate) that require cleaning, waste, and exhauster services.

● Client Acquisition: Oversee the full sales cycle, from lead generation and cold calls to contract negotiation and closing high-value deals.

● Mobility & Field Presence: Utilize a valid Driver's License to conduct daily client meetings, market research, and site assessments independently and efficiently. Spend significant time in the field supporting team efforts and closing complex deals.

● Tender Management: Oversee the preparation and submission of competitive proposals and bids for large contracts and tenders.


C. Client Relationship Management (CRM) and Reporting

● CRM Management: Ensure the sales team consistently and accurately utilizes the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for tracking leads, client interactions, and sales pipelines.

● Reporting: Provide accurate weekly and monthly sales forecasts, activity reports, and market feedback to senior management.

● Collaboration: Work closely with the Zonal Field Operations Manager (Zone B) to ensure smooth handover of new contracts and alignment between sales promises and operational delivery capabilities.


3. Qualifications and Experience

Required

● Experience: 5+ years of progressive sales experience, with at least 2 years in a management role leading a team of 5 or more sales professionals.

● Mobility: Possession of a valid, clean Driver's License is mandatory. Proven ability to drive and manage travel efficiently across the Nairobi metropolitan area.

● Sector Knowledge: Experience selling services (e.g., logistics, facilities management, waste, or high-value B2B services).

● Skills: Strong negotiation, presentation, and client relationship management skills.


Desirable

● Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

● Experience selling environmental, cleaning, or sanitation services.


4. Resources and Compensation

● Compensation: Competitive base salary plus a performance-based commission structure.

● Resources: Access to company vehicle/transport allowance, necessary communication tools, and a robust CRM system
