Job summary

To provide safe, comprehensive and patient-centered dental services at Galaxy Hospital through accurate diagnosis, treatment, prevention and management of oral and dental conditions, while maintaining high professional and ethical standards.

Job descriptions & requirements

  • Conduct comprehensive dental consultations, oral examinations and clinical assessments.
  • Diagnose dental and oral conditions and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Perform routine and emergency dental procedures, including:
    • Dental extractions
    • Root canal treatment
    • Composite and other restorative fillings
    • Scaling and polishing
    • Pulpectomy and other indicated endodontic procedures
    • Minor oral surgery
    • Management of impacted teeth, including open and closed disimpaction where appropriately trained and authorized
    • Prosthetic procedures, including complete and partial dentures
    • Preventive and periodontal care
    • Orthodontic assessment and management within the practitioner's scope of practice.
  • Provide appropriate pain management, prescriptions and post-operative instructions.
  • Identify complicated cases and make timely referrals to specialists or appropriate facilities.
  • Attend to dental emergencies and provide appropriate initial management.
  • Review patients after procedures and monitor treatment outcomes.
  • Provide patients with oral health education, preventive advice and appropriate hygiene instructions.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date dental records, treatment notes and patient histories.
  • Ensure informed consent is obtained before procedures.
  • Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices within the dental unit.
  • Safely use, maintain and monitor dental equipment, instruments and materials.
  • Work closely with nurses, dental assistants, laboratory staff, pharmacists, radiology staff and other hospital departments.
  • Participate in hospital emergency response and multidisciplinary patient management where required.
  • Participate in dental outreach, health promotion and community oral health activities organized by the hospital.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation, reporting and follow-up of dental patients.
  • Participate in procurement planning and advise management on dental equipment, materials and consumables.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits and implementation of hospital policies.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and keep current with accepted dental practices.
  • Perform any other duties related to dental services as assigned by the Medical Director or Hospital Management.
