The successful candidate must have demonstrated hands-on proficiency in NetSuite for accounting and financial management and be able to translate financial results into clear recommendations for leadership and the Board.

Key Responsibilities

·        Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; develop automated reporting and dashboards to track performance, funding, and key metrics and explain trends, risks, and recommended actions.

·        Monitor cash flow, liquidity, reserves, and financial risk; maintain cash forecasts and advise the CFO on funding needs and spending priorities.

·        Ensure accurate accounting for donor-restricted and unrestricted funds, including tracking restrictions, releases, and compliance with donor requirements.

·        Build and maintain advanced Microsoft Excel financial models for budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and sustainability analysis; analyze financial data to guide strategy and resource allocation.

·        Lead the annual budgeting process; review budget-to-actual performance with budget owners and recommend corrective action for material variances.

·        Advise the CFO, executive leadership, Finance Committee, and Board on significant financial matters through clear analysis and decision-ready reporting.

·        Coordinate annual audits, Form 990 preparation, U.S. GAAP reporting, and technical accounting matters with auditors and external tax advisors.

·        Strengthen financial policies, procedures, approval limits, segregation of duties, and fraud-prevention controls; monitor remediation of control weaknesses.

·        Oversee grant accounting, cost allocation, indirect cost recovery, and financial reporting to support compliance with grant agreements.

·        Support multi-country and multi-currency operations, including exchange-rate treatment, intercompany reconciliations, and consolidated reporting as applicable.

·        Oversee banking relationships, reserves, investments, and organizational assets. Review payment approvals and reconcile banking, expense, vendor, payroll, and donor transactions to NetSuite.

·        Support financial risk management, including OFAC, anti-terror financing, and donor due-diligence processes, in coordination with legal and compliance advisors.

·        Mentor finance staff and clarify responsibilities across internal teams and external advisors; establish clear ownership of recurring financial deliverables.

Required Qualifications

·        Active CPA license.

·        Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience, including substantial responsibility as a CFO, Controller, or senior financial advisor.

·        Mandatory NetSuite experience: demonstrated hands-on proficiency in accounting and financial management, including general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, period close, financial reporting, and saved searches. Candidates must be able to work independently in NetSuite.[ED1]

·        Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel financial modeling, financial data analysis, automated financial reporting, and dashboard development. Demonstrated ability to build reliable models, use advanced formulas, PivotTables, and Power Query, and validate financial data and reporting outputs.

·        Strong practical experience in nonprofit accounting and U.S. GAAP, donor restrictions, grant accounting, cost allocation, financial statements, audits, and Form 990 preparation or review.

·        Proven capability in budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, financial analysis, internal controls, and financial risk management.

·        Experience working effectively with auditors, banks, external professional advisors, executives, and Board members.
