Senior Finance and Operations Officer

Our client, Zaka International is a peer-to-business lending platform revolutionizing access to finance for small and growing businesses in Kenya. By connecting ordinary investors directly to vetted SMEs, Zaka enables entrepreneurs to access growth capital while providing investors with attractive returns. They are seeking to hire a Senior Finance and Operations Officer who will provide overall leadership and oversight of the microfinance program, with a strong focus on financial management, portfolio performance and team supervision. The role requires a business-minded, entrepreneurial professional with solid accounting expertise to strengthen controls, improve financial reporting, and drive sustainable growth of the lending program.

Key Responsibilities

2. Advise the CEO and senior management on all matters relating to finance, treasury, accounting, and administration.
   
3. Prepare and monitor the annual budget against organizational performance.
   
4. Develop funding proposals and maintain relationships with potential funding partners.
   
5. Ensure proper cash and asset control while managing funding requirements.
   
6. Oversee loan portfolio quality and ensure strict compliance with policies.
   
7. Expand the customer base and grow loan disbursements in line with budget
   
8. Ensure timely submission of statutory returns and adherence to regulatory requirements.
   

Required Specifications:

1. 
   
2. Proven experience in financial management in a regulated commercial bank or microfinance institution.
   
3. Experience in planning, budgeting, and working with senior management and Boards.
   
4. Experience working with regulators (e.g., CBK).
   
5. Strong knowledge of Microfinance and Banking Acts, Basel regulations, and Enterprise Risk Management.
   
6. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written).
   
7. Skilled in negotiation, fundraising, and proposal writing.
   
8. Proficient in core banking and accounting software.
   
9. Strong mentoring, training, and facilitation capabilities.
