Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Non-General Underwriter with expertise in Life Insurance, Pension, Medical, and Travel insurance. The ideal candidate will assess, evaluate, and underwrite insurance applications while ensuring full compliance with company policies and industry regulations.


Key Responsibilities

Medical Insurance Duties:

  • Process additions and deletions in medical insurance schemes.
  • Raise and follow up on medical insurance debit and credit notes.
  • Liaise with insurance companies regarding issuance and delivery of medical cards.
  • Deliver urgent medical-related documents as needed.
  • Reconcile medical insurance matters with clients and insurers.
  • Issue quotations in line with underwriting guidelines.

Travel Insurance Duties:

  • Prepare and issue travel insurance quotations for clients.
  • Issue travel insurance covers through approved insurance providers.

Group Life / Combined Schemes Duties:

  • Process additions and deletions in group life and combined schemes.
  • Follow up for issuance of applicable credit notes from insurance companies.

General Underwriting Duties:

  • Attend to clients as directed by the Department Manager.
  • Oversee and/or participate in filing of underwriting documents.
  • Ensure all premium cheques are collected strictly in the insurer’s name; direct clients attempting to pay in cash to the insurer’s official payment channels.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Review and verify the accuracy of quotations and risk notes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all underwriting information; share only with the Department Manager or Directors as necessary.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Respond to client and internal emails in a timely and professional manner.
  • Regularly follow up with the Department Manager regarding pending documents and unresolved matters.

Operational Support:

  • Work extended hours during peak periods as required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Manager or Company Directors.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or Degree in Insurance, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in non-general underwriting (Medical, Travel, Group Life).
  • Strong understanding of insurance products, processes, and industry best practices.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and underwriting systems.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure, especially during high-volume periods.
