General Purpose
Our client, a leading interior fit-out and furniture company based in Industrial Area, Nairobi, specializes in bespoke furniture and innovative interior solutions. With a strong commitment to quality craftsmanship, the company transforms spaces into aesthetically striking and highly functional environments. We are seeking to recruit an experienced Wood Production Manager to oversee the entire production process, from material selection to final product quality, ensuring smooth, efficient, cost-effective, and timely production.
Location: Nairobi | Gross Salary: Ksh. 200,000
Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepare and implement production plans for all production activities based on customer orders.
• Review production plan execution and make necessary adjustments to ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate work-in-progress using appropriate workflow charts and production tracking systems across different production departments.
• Monitor utilization of raw materials from estimation and requisition through production, ensuring wastage is minimized.
• Plan timely production of standard and customized products to maintain appropriate stock levels and prevent customer shortages.
• Participate actively in new product design and development to enhance product quality and customer experience.
• Ensure section heads and supervisors prepare proper shift reports and conduct effective handovers.
• Review departmental production reports and monitor performance against production targets.
• Liaise with Stores to confirm material availability and ensure timely reordering and purchase requisitions.
• Coordinate all production activities on the production floor, with emphasis on quantity, efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
• Lead brainstorming and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving quality, productivity, efficiency, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Encourage employees to develop and implement innovative ideas for improving production processes.
• Enforce company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and operational standards within the production department.
• Ensure effective communication of production objectives, instructions, and expectations to all production staff.
• Prepare and submit production and performance reports as required by management.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Wood Science, Industrial Processes, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant managerial experience in a busy woodworking, joinery, furniture manufacturing, or interior fit-out environment.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in a joinery workshop environment and woodwork machinery.
• Strong people management, leadership, and team coordination skills.
• Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels, from the shop floor to senior management.
• Strong understanding of production planning, workflow management, quality control, material utilization, and productivity improvement.
