Legal Compliance Officer
Job summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Legal Compliance Officer to ensure the company operates in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance, manage compliance programs, review legal documents, and support the company in minimizing legal and regulatory risks.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure the company complies with all applicable Kenyan laws, regulations and statutory requirements.
Monitor changes in legislation and advise management on their impact on the business.
Draft, review, negotiate and maintain contracts, agreements, memoranda, and other legal documents.
Provide legal advice to management on corporate, commercial, employment and regulatory matters.
Develop, implement and monitor legal compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
Conduct periodic legal and compliance audits and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Maintain statutory records, legal documents, and compliance registers.
Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure timely renewal of licenses, permits and statutory certifications.
Liaise with external legal counsel, regulatory authorities and government agencies on legal and compliance matters.
Support the company during regulatory inspections, audits, investigations and legal proceedings.
Identify legal and compliance risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
Conduct legal and compliance awareness training for employees.
Prepare legal opinions, compliance reports, and management updates.
Ensure confidentiality of all legal documents and company information.
Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in law (LL. B) or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in legal compliance, corporate legal affairs or regulatory compliance.
Experience in the FMCG or manufacturing industry is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of Kenyan corporate, commercial labor and regulatory laws.
Excellent contract drafting, negotiation and legal research skills.
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
