Manager- Underwriting (Non Motor)
Job summary
The overall purpose of this job is to oversee and manage the underwriting processes, ensure compliance, implementation of underwriting guidelines, ensure that risks are evaluated accurately and efficiently while maintaining the financial health of the organization as well as provision of leadership to the departmental team.

Key Result Areas:
Strategic Role:
- Ensure that underwrinting practices complywith industry regulations and company policies
- Prepare reports and presentation for senior management on underwriting performance
- Continuously omprove underwriting processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Develop and inplement underwriting policies , guidelines and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Review and approve high value and complex insurance applications making data driven decisions
- Work with other departments such as claims and sales to address underwriting issues and ensure seamless customer experience.
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.
- Conduct through evaluations of risks associate with both renewals and new cover applications by utilising data analysis tools, underwriting models and industry knowledge to identify potential risk exposure and ensure company's financial stability.
Risk Assessment & Management
- Assess the risk associated with renewing existing policies by reviewing past claims history , analysing current market conditions and evaluating th policy holder's information and make data driven decisions to minimise exposure .
- Assess and manage risks associate with insurance policies to minimise potential losses.
- Review and approve high value or complex insurance applications.
Team Leadership :
- lead and mentor the underwriting team to acheive departmental goals and maintain high performace standards
- provide training and mentoship to the underwriters to enhance theri skills
Process Improvement: Automate and improve underwriting processes to maximize efficiency
Work with underwriters, clients and branches to ensure strict adherance to set guidelines and turn around times (TATs)
Facilitate prompt issuance of policy documents, renewal confirmations, endorsements, refunds, cover notes, insurance confirmation forms and any other requested documents
provide customer satisfaction by maintaining positive relationships with policy holders , insurance agents and internal teams , assisting with enquiries, policy changes and claims processing , demonstrating professionalism, responsiveness and expertise in handling customer needs.
Ensure compliance with insurance regulations and company policies related to underwriting practices and data privacy, while collaborating with internal stakeholders to adhere to regulatory requirements.
