About the Project:
We are undertaking a distinctive all-timber sustainable construction project that combines traditional craftsmanship with a modern design sensibility. This is not mass-production or generic carpentry work — it is precision-driven, detail-oriented timber framing and joinery, executed using carefully selected, locally sourced timber. Every cut, joint, and fit must be accurate. Every decision made on-site will shape a structure built to last — naturally and beautifully.
Who We're Looking For:
We’re seeking a Master Carpenter with a minimum of 10 years' experience in carpentry, with a strong track record in:
- Timber framing using traditional methods (e.g., mortise and tenon, lap joints, post-and-beam)
- Joinery and precision woodwork, including structural and finish-quality execution
- Interpreting detailed technical drawings and site measurements
- Working with minimal supervision while maintaining extremely high standards
Key Requirements
Experience:
- 10+ years of active carpentry experience, with at least 5 years specifically in timber framing and joinery
- Experience on bespoke timber construction projects (residential, workshop, or architectural structures)
Skills:
- Master-level accuracy in cutting, measuring, leveling, and joint-making
- Proficient in constructing strong, square, plumb timber frameworks
- Ability to solve structural and spatial challenges on-site
- Skilled in using both hand tools and power tools effectively and safely
- Familiarity with sustainable construction principles is a strong asset
Tools:
You must bring your own well-maintained, professional tools, including at a minimum:
- Circular saw (for precise timber cuts)
- Drill machine (corded or cordless for heavier drilling tasks)
- Cordless drill/driver (for screw fastening and site mobility)
- Standard carpentry tools (chisels, mallet, square, hand saw, levels, clamps, measuring tape, etc.)
What You’ll Be Working On:
- Constructing a timber structural framework with numerous joint angles to exacting tolerances
- Executing load-bearing joints using traditional timber framing techniques
- Collaborating on-site to make real-time adjustments and refinements
- Maintaining material integrity by working with care and skill — no shortcuts
- Ensuring structural strength, alignment, and a beautiful natural finish
To Apply:
Please provide:
- Brief summary of your carpentry experience
- 2–3 photos of recent work, especially timber framing or joinery (if available)
- List of your tools
- Your availability and contact information
Important Note:
Only candidates who meet the 10+ years’ experience minimum and own the listed tools will be considered. This is not an entry-level or general construction role. We are specifically looking for a master-level craftsperson who understands precision, structure, and the soul of timber.
