Job summary

Position Summary The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s full accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost control, statutory compliance, and strong internal controls in a manufacturing environment. The role supports management with financial insights and oversees junior finance staff.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities

A.    Financial Management & Reporting

·       Prepare and present daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

·       Maintain accurate general ledger and financial records

·       Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections

·       Provide financial analysis to support management decisions

 

B.     Cost Accounting & Inventory Control

·       Establish and maintain product costing systems

·       Monitor production costs, margins, wastage, and variances

·       Oversee inventory valuation, stock counts, and reconciliations

·       Recommend cost-reduction and efficiency initiatives

 

C.     Taxation & Statutory Compliance

·       Ensure timely filing and compliance with VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Standard Levy, Corporate Tax

·       Prepare schedules and documentation for audits

·       Liaise with auditors, banks, KRA, and other regulatory bodies

·       Internal Controls & Risk Management

·       Establish and enforce financial controls and approval processes

·       Oversee bank, cash, and M-Pesa reconciliations

·       Ensure segregation of duties within the finance function

 

 5. Payroll Administration

·       Process salaries, benefits, wages and statutory deductions.

·       File payroll statutory obligations (e.g. PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, NITA)

·       Ensure compliance with labor laws and reporting obligations.

·       Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in employee compensation.

 

D.    Team Leadership

·       Supervise, mentor, and train the Accounts Intern.

·       Review junior staff work for accuracy and completeness.

a) Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an Accounting / Finance field in an accountant role in a profit-making company preferably a manufacturing industry or FMCG. b) Professional Qualification: CPA (K)/ACCA/CA. c) Academic Qualification: Graduate in any relevant field of study e.g. Economics Commerce Business etc. d) Relevant Software - Experience in ERP preferably SAP.
