The incumbent for this role will be under Elewa Tech which trains IT resources from East-Africa on the development of cutting-edge technology. These resources are organized into teams which offshore the tech services of startups on the international market via business process outsourcing, hence matching East-African IT talent with rapidly growing global demand. Part of these resources are deployed internally, to develop and support training programs for Elewa’s customers and projects.

Purpose of the position: 

To lead and maintain several projects with our software development technical Teams and serve clients that are spread in different parts of the world. Furthermore, the incumbent will bear the responsibility for stability and quality of the products we develop and support.


Client relations

• Manage client relations and help define/communicate clear expectations from both sides.

• Work with external business units of the client and internal solution designers & architects to analyze customer requirements and translating them to functional and technical requirements.

• Take part in IT Technical pre-sales opportunities as may be delegated.

• Take part in customer onboarding i.e. requirements gathering, identifying gaps, scope, timeline and signing of contract.


Software Development Project Management

• Software Development Project planning and management for the different projects.

• Take part in project resource planning, budgeting, and management.

• Translate technical and engineering-language to formats that are communicable to clients.

• Plan and lead periodic check-ins with clients on progress and other aspects of client communication.

• Project scheduling and management.

• Managing software developers from idea inception to final release.

• Conduct product reviews with the developers to ensure that system features meet customer requirements.

• Work with developers and other team members to prioritize tasks and ensure backlog items of each project team are clearly defined, clearly technically scoped, and clearly understood by the team. 

• Conduct daily reviews with the development teams and team leads with the aim of ensuring that deliverables are clear, get to know what they are working on (prioritization) and assist in unlocking any blocking points that the teams may experience. 

• Ensure that the developed systems have been adequately tested before being released to the customer.

• Managing system integration activities with any third-Party Partners to ensure that their deliverables are aligned to the overall project deliverables and timelines.

• Preparing and presenting project reports to project teams, executive management, and relevant internal and external partners

• Identification of risks early on and communication on the same. Development and communication of risk mitigation strategies, both for acute as chronic risks.


Leadership

• Conduct performance evaluation of project team members against Project KPIs and Organization objectives.

• Ensure Continuous Professional Development of people involved in the different projects. 

• Coordinate lesson of the week workshops to ensure continuous improvement in efficiency of the team and to facilitate the team to learn from each other.

• Perform any other duties and responsibilities, taking into consideration your role and experience, which may be assigned by the management from time to time and which are related to the achievement of organizations mission and vision.


Qualifications, Background, competencies, and attributes (Knowledge, skills, and abilities may have been acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, and prior experience or on-the-job training). 

• Cultural fit as per our CODE is a MUST.

• Relevant academic and professional certifications. 

• Outstanding written and verbal communication with superb negotiation skills.

• Ability to understand Elewa’s big picture.

• Portfolio of prior work experience that fits in well with this role’s responsibilities.
