VP of Strategy and Operations at Lori Systems

Job Description Lori Systems is a fast growing, technology venture based in Nairobi, Kenya led by Harvard & MIT graduates and backed by local & international investors and advisors. Leveraging 3 years of research at Harvard and in-house developed technology, Lori has built a logistics platform that is revolutionising the cargo-transport value chain in Africa – from the ground up. The relative cost of moving goods in the region is one of the highest in the world – leading to up to 75% of a product’s cost going to logistics (compared to 6% in the US). Lori enables the logistics space to operate at an order of magnitude more efficiently than it does today. Higher efficiency through Lori has been demonstrated to drive costs down which is expected to create new jobs & stimulate overall economic development in a tangible way. WHAT YOU WILL DO: Support exec team in the execution of strategic projects such as fundraising and partnershipsOwn and execute complex projects across technology, operations, and financeLead teams to drive growth and adoption of new productsWork with exec team to set targets & track performance across the organizationContribute as a leader in the execution of Lori’s strategy and achievements of key objectivesIdentify new market opportunities and draft plans to execute on thoseUse data and analytics to produce business insights and drive strategyStreamline cross-team collaboration for optimal operational efficiency WHAT IT TAKES: BA/BS in STEM, Economics, Statistics, or a related technical/business field6+ years experience in strategy, operations and/or management consulting2+ years experience in high-growth tech / startupsExcellent management, communication and execution skills, proven ability to build and lead teamsVery strong analytical thinker who is data driven and able to make decisions quicklyExperience developing, implementing and achieving KPIsStrategy planning and execution experienceRecord of setting and achieving ambitious goals in an innovative and fast-paced environment.Energetic, fun, driven and self-motivated PREFERRED EXPERIENCE MBA or equivalent advanced degreeExperience with leading mobility startups, digital company and/or in logistics (traditional and e-logistics)2+ years in management consulting or bankingExpertise in B2B/B2C, SaaS, FinTech or Data ScienceExperience with African Start-ups and plugged into the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
