3D DESIGNER & GAME DEVELOPMENT INTERN (Kes.35K)

Tradestar Kenya Limited is a fast-growing outsourcing organization situated in Thika town. We are looking for a creative and talented designer who can comfortably work on 3D designs and game development.  The internship will run for a period of six or more months.

The intern will join our team to support the design, development and improvement of interactive 3D content and game-based solutions.  The role involves creating engaging visual assets, virtual learning environments, and interactive experiences that enhance user engagement. 

Responsibilities

• Design and create 3D models, environments, animations, and assets for educational games and simulations

• Assist in developing interactive game features for mobile and PC applications

• Create virtual environments and game scenarios

• Develop engaging and interactive content using game mechanics

• Produce design materials such as concept art, storyboards, scripts, and visual prototypes

• Optimize 3D assets and game components for performance across different devices

• Collaborate with instructional designers, graphic designers, and programmers to meet content requirements

• Integrate 3D assets, animations and interactive elements into our system

• Support software integration with APIs and emerging technologies where needed

• Test game features and interactive content to ensure functionality and usability

• Identify bugs, troubleshoot issues, and improve application performance

• Participate in technical design reviews and progress meetings

• Keep accurate documentation of development progress, changes and test results

• Research and recommend new tools, technologies and development practices to improve efficiency 

Education and experience:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Game Development, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, 3D Animation, Graphic Design or a related field.

• Knowledge of 3D design and modeling using tools such as Autodesk 3Ds Max, Maya, Blender or similar software 

• Programming knowledge in languages javascript, PHP, NodeJS and MySQL is an added advantage 

• Familiarity with game development platforms such as Three.js and Rogue Engine 

• Knowledge of mobile and desktop application development concepts is desirable

• Portfolio or sample projects demonstrating 3D design, animation or game development skills is preferred

• Previous academic, personal or freelance projects in 3D design or game development will be an added advantage

• Willingness to learn new tools, technologies and development methods quickly

• Positive attitude, self-motivated and eagerness to grow professionally 

• Excellent communication, collaboration and reporting skills with fluency in English.

• Recent graduate or final-year student (age 22–26 years) with strong academic performance in relevant subjects. 

• Distance of travel from home to office in Thika must be less than 60 min

Salary: Remuneration Kes.35K gross per month
