Job Description/Requirements

  • Collaborating with internal departments to gather, analyze, interpret relevant financial data and perform monthly expenses budget variance analysis to improve future budget accuracy.
  • Verify if supplier invoices have been matched to LPOs, requisitions, confirm proof of goods/services being received and that prices charged on invoices are per LPOs.
  • Comparing system reports to balances and verifying entries.
  • Charging expenses to accounts and cost centers, as well as controlling petty cash spending.
  • Maintain the AP Ledger by reviewing it at least weekly to ensure data accuracy and to assess whether suppliers are being paid on time.
  • Review all non-AP supplier documentation that is submitted to Finance for payment is correct. Ensure proper and systematic filing systems are maintained for all supplier and payment support documentation.
  • Ensure that all supplier and other liability invoices and payments are accurately processed in the accounting system.
  • Ensure appropriate withholding tax, excise and VAT is accounted for on relevant supplier invoices and remitted to KRA timely.
  • Reconcile the supplier account statements to the Sage records monthly.
  • Reconciling account transactions with the general ledger.
  • Process AP and GL journals where required from any of the duties herein.
  • Keeping informed of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.


Qualification Requirements.

  • Bachelor's or associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related.
  • Must have CPA(K) or ACCA certification.
  • Extensive experience in account reconciliation.
  • Keen attention to detail.


Ideal Skills & Experience Required.

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Telecommunication/Engineering Industry supporting operations.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an accounting position.
  • Extensive experience in tax management.
  • Advanced competency in accounting and business management software, preferably sage.
  • Proven knowledge of standard accounting practices and procedures and industry regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to acquire information and influence others with diplomacy, tact and discretion and to engage internal and external stakeholders at all levels with respect and confidence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to identify issues and develop solutions 
  • Outstanding organizational skills including the ability to manage and priorities multiple concurrent tasks, meet tight deadlines and to work in an independent, flexible manner where required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in the use of Windows based applications (particularly spreadsheets)
