Food and Beverage Supervisor

Job Summary

The Food and beverage supervisor will be responsible for supervising all F&B operations and delivering an excellent guest experience. The successful candidate should be able to forecast, plan and supervise staff. The goal is to maximize sales and revenue through guest satisfaction and employee engagement.

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor
  • Experience Level: Mid level
  • Experience Length: 5 years

Job Description/Requirements

  • Supervising all F&B and day-to-day operations and to the highest standards
  • Ensuring excellent levels of internal and external guest service
  • Design exceptional menus and continuously make necessary improvements
  • Identify guest needs and respond proactively to all of their concerns
  • Provide a two way communication and nurture a positive environment with emphasis in motivation and teamwork
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations
  • Report to management regarding sales results and productivity
  • Monitor and ensure optimal cleanliness, sanitation of the restaurant and kitchen
  •  Plan, supervise and control various operations, working closely and supporting the food and beverage manager
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, acknowledge all guests and resolve complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
  • Constant effective communication with managers and supervisors regarding any guest or staff issue
  • Operate Micros-POS (point of sale)
  • Prepare reports for the food and beverage manager
  • Supervise waiters, barman by ensuring the smooth running of the floor and that duties are carried out in a professional and timely manner
  • Maintain excellent product knowledge
  • Prepare weekly staff rosters
  • Conduct service briefing
  • Ensure all front of house staff adhere to the ‘company code of conduct’ and ‘standard operating procedures
  • Monitor staff closely to identify any transgressions throughout service so that these can be addressed immediately
  • Monitor staff service levels to establish any areas that require attention or further training 
  • Ensure the correct set up for functions and bookings for the day
  • Conduct menu and beverage training 
  • Monitor staff breaks and general time keeping
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Skills and qualifications

  • Bachelors in Hospitality Management
  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • A strong grasp of operational systems (Micros POS ) and computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point, Outlook
  • Food & Beverage product knowledge
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure
  • A willingness and passion to serve
  • Presentable and well-groomed
  • Ability to work long hours, day and night, including weekends and holidays when required
  • Strong ability to communicate and to read and write in English is essential
  • A passion to learn, teach and drive improvement in employees 
  • Food cost knowledge
