GLASS CULLET PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
Job summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing the production of glass cullet in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner. This role oversees daily plant operations, ensuring that cullet production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. The Production Supervisor leads a team of cullet production staff, coordinates maintenance activities, and drives continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.

- Plan, organize, and oversee daily glass cullet production activities to ensure targets are achieved within set timelines and quality standards.
- Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials.
- Monitor production output and performance metrics, identifying and addressing bottlenecks to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Ensure proper segregation, crushing, cleaning, and sizing of glass cullet according to required specifications.
- Coordinate closely with procurement and logistics teams to ensure continuous availability of raw materials and timely dispatch of finished cullet.
- Establish and enforce quality control procedures to ensure cullet meets industry and customer specifications.
- Conduct routine inspections, sampling, and testing of cullet to detect contamination, size inconsistencies, or defects.
- Investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate quality records and reports for audit and compliance purposes.
- Supervise, train, and mentor production staff to enhance skills, productivity, and adherence to operational standards.
- Allocate tasks effectively and monitor team performance against set KPIs.
- Foster a positive and accountable work culture that emphasizes teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Manage attendance, shift scheduling, and leave planning to ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Address employee concerns, resolve conflicts, and administer disciplinary procedures in line with company policy.
- Oversee the operation of cullet processing equipment, including crushers, conveyors, and sorting systems.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to troubleshoot breakdowns and implement long-term solutions.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance schedules, repairs, and equipment performance.
- Monitor stock levels of raw glass, consumables, and finished cullet to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock reconciliations.
- Optimize resource utilization to reduce waste, control costs, and improve operational efficiency.
- Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and toolbox talks to promote a safe working environment.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Investigate accidents and near-misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Promote environmentally responsible practices, including proper waste handling and recycling processes.
- Analyze production data, KPIs, and operational trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives such as process optimization and cost reduction strategies.
- Prepare and present production, safety, and performance reports to management.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance overall plant performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation including production logs, maintenance records, safety reports, and audit records.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required data and implementing recommendations.
- Diploma in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 2–3 years of experience in route-to-market operations, distribution, or field logistics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.
- Strong data analysis and reporting skills.
- Experience in the food and beverage industry is an added advantage.
- Good understanding of regional geography, particularly Mombasa and its surrounding areas.
- Strong leadership and team management skills
