Job Purpose
Field Technician or Installer is a service professional who affix and positions equipment in a designated location and completes the set-up process so the equipment is ready for operation or can serve its service purpose. Their primary objective is to ensure the equipment is installed in a safe manner that doesn’t present any hazards while also supporting functionality to allow for the best possible performance. They review and explain operation and maintenance information to the user or customer. They will also provide ongoing support, maintenance, and repairs.
Requirements
Installers have a minimum of a high school diploma and may have completed a trade school program or training course.
Hands-on experience installing and adjusting the particular equipment involved is preferred. These roles are often physically demanding and may involve working in strenuous conditions.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate with dispatch for daily appointments
- Wear all identification, safety and courtesy equipment at all times.
- Test electrical equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning of routers and service.
- Carry material and stage for installer at the customer & premises.
- Guide, coordinate and oversee fellow installers.
- Educate customers about benefits and up-sell to customers’ add-on sales products.
- Evaluate and monitor the performance and quality standards of sub-contractors within their infrastructure boundaries.
- Maintain installation tools and equipment in safe working order.
- Educate customers on the features and functionality of installed products.
- Assist with the completion of tasks within the allotted time frame.
- Assist with parts, shipping, receiving and inventory as needed.
- Review paperwork with customers where needed.
- Assist in the removal and installation of materials in customer’s premises.
- At times, crawl into small spaces, work in all climates and remain physically fit.
Qualifications
- College Degree (preferred)
- Previous trade experience a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting abilities
- Problem Solving
- Comfortable working at heights and off ladders
- A valid motorcycle or motorcar driver & license
- Communication Skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Job-specific skills such as splicing and racking.
- Pay attention to detail by listening to client concerns and issues.
Education – Minimum certificate in IT/ Engineering or on job installation experience.
Experience in installation in ISP field.
Certificate level – 1 year
On job training – 2 years
IT Literacy and OSHA experience added advantage.
Able to operate in a performance driven organization.

INSTALLATION TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR;
1. Picking up job tickets for closed leads.
2. Picking up FWA CPE/ FTTX ONT + installation material from assigned stock point.
3. Schedule installation with customer, Perform installation work (civil + electrical) and take photos of installation.
5. Complete KYC with service activation.
6. Test Service to be working with speed test using prescribed application.
7. Job completion certification with customer acceptance.
INSTALLERS WAYS OF WORK
1. Pick up tickets assigned- new installation, existing customer relocation, fault repair and recovery.
2. Minimum 2/3 tickets per day to be closed unless no tickets assigned for the day.
3. Collect Routers and installation material from warehouse/ Airtel shop within assigned cluster. Should ensure minimum 15-meter installation cable.
4. Schedule installation/ relocation/ fault repair/ recovery time with customer.
5. Complete KYC for new installation and update KYC for customer relocation.
6. Physical installation of ODU or FTTX ONT at customer premise with picture/ video of installation.
7. Speed test and job completion certificate signed off by customer to close ticket on installer App/ Google form.
8. Each installer to be mapped to sales executives for assigned clusters, thereby ensuring handover of sales from sales order to installer ticket.
9. Seek approval from supervisor for additional installation material beyond standard kit or collection of additional installation payment from customer
For installers a) Medical cover b) std basic pay of Kes 34,724/- plus transport allowance of 200/- net for each installation plus 250/- commissions for each installation plus airtime plus bundles.
