Job Title: IT Officer
Reports To: IT Manager / Operations Manager
1.Job Purpose
To support the organization’s technology infrastructure by ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and security of IT systems. The IT Officer is responsible for providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, and enhancing digital operations to support business objectives.
2.Key Responsibilities
IT Support and Systems Management
· Provide first-level technical support to staff on hardware, software, and network-related issues.
· Install, configure, and maintain computers, printers, and other IT equipment.
· Monitor system performance and ensure minimal downtime.
· Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving faults efficiently.
Network and Infrastructure Management
· Assist in maintaining network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN and internet connectivity.
· Ensure network security and data protection measures are in place.
· Perform routine system updates, backups, and patches.
Data Management and Security
· Support data backup processes and disaster recovery planning.
· Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with IT policies.
· Monitor systems for potential security breaches and vulnerabilities.
Digital Content and Design Support (Canva)
· Support teams in creating basic digital content using Canva (e.g., posters, presentations, internal communications).
· Ensure brand consistency in digital materials where required.
Operational Support
· Maintain accurate records of IT assets, licenses, and support requests.
· Assist in procurement of IT equipment and software.
· Provide user training on basic IT systems and applications.
Teamwork and Collaboration
· Work closely with different departments to understand and meet IT needs.
· Support implementation of new systems and technologies.
· Participate in continuous improvement of IT processes and services.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· System uptime and reliability
· Response and resolution time for IT issues
· User satisfaction levels
· Network performance and security compliance
· Accuracy of IT documentation and asset management
3.Qualifications
· Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
· Minimum of 1 year experience in an IT-related role
· Basic knowledge of networking, hardware, and software systems
· Proficiency in Canva is an added advantage
4.Skills and Competencies
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
· Good communication and user support skills
· Basic knowledge of network administration and IT security
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
