●       Professional Compliance Certification (E.G. Ica Certificate/Diploma, Acams, Or Equivalent) Is Highly Desirable.

●       Knowledge Of Insurance Regulations, Insurance Act, Ira Requirements, And Regulatory Compliance.

●       Understanding Of Anti-Money Laundering Regulations, Data Protection Laws, And Corporate Governance.

●       Proficiency In Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) And Document Management Systems.

●       Should Have Solid Understanding Of Insurance Regulations, Ira Requirements, And Compliance Obligations In Kenya.

●       Proficiency In Reviewing, Drafting, And Managing Contracts, Agreements, And Legal Documents.

●       Ability To Conduct Compliance Audits, Identify Gaps, And Implement Corrective Actions.

Experience:       

Minimum Of 3 Years Progressive Experience In Legal, Compliance, Or Regulatory Affairs Within Insurance Or Financial Services, With Demonstrated Ability To Work Independently.

Salary:  Kshs. 70,000 - 100,000 Plus Company Benefits

Duties:

The Legal & Compliance Officer Is Responsible For Supporting The Organizations Compliance Operations And Legal Administration Activities. He/She Is Responsible For Contract Management, Litigation Support, Regulatory Compliance Monitoring, Aml/Kyc Processes, Data Protection Processes, Policy Implementation, And Governance Administration Across The Organization. The Legal & Compliance Officer Shall Dentify Risks, Implement Controls, And Drive Adherence To Regulatory Obligations By Performing The Following Responsibilities: 

●       Contract Administration And Legal Documentation Management: -

Draft, Review, And Negotiate Legal Documents Including Non-Disclosure Agreements, Standard Contracts, And Internal Memoranda, Escalating Complex Matters To The Legal & Compliance Manager As Appropriate.

●       Operational Management Of The Legal & Compliance Function: -

Manage Scheduling, Correspondence, Reports, And Presentations For The Legal & Compliance Function, Ensuring Timely And Accurate Outputs.

●       Regulatory Compliance Monitoring And Reporting: -

Independently Prepare And Coordinate Submission Of Regulatory Returns And Reports For The Insurance Regulatory Authority (Ira) And The Financial Reporting Centre Ensuring Accuracy And Timeliness.

●       Maintain Legal And Compliance Records And Documentation: -

Establish And Maintain Comprehensive Filing Systems For Legal Documents, Compliance Records, Policies, And Correspondence.

●       Compliance Training And Awareness Programme Management: -

Deliver Compliance Training Sessions For Staff, Managing All Logistics Including Scheduling, Venue Booking, And Participant Registration. Develop Training Materials, Presentations, And Handouts For Compliance Training Programmes.

●       Anti-Money Laundering And Know-Your-Customer Compliance: -

Execute Customer Due Diligence (Cdd) Procedures Including Collection And Verification Of Identification Documents, Applying Risk-Based Judgement To Assessments.

●       Policy And Procedure Ownership And Implementation: -

Take Ownership Of Developing, Reviewing, And Updating Company Policies And Procedures Manuals In Coordination With The Legal & Compliance Manager. Ensure Policy Documents Are Properly Formatted, Version-Controlled, And Include Appropriate Approval Signatures.

●       Litigation And Dispute Management: -

Own And Maintain The Litigation Register Tracking All Active Legal Cases, Claims, And Disputes Involving The Company. Manage Communication Between The Company And External Legal Counsel On Litigation Matters, Ensuring Timely Information Flow.

●       Corporate Governance Administration And Company Secretarial: -

Prepare Board Papers, Agendas, And Meeting Materials For Compliance Committee Meetings, Ensuring Content Is Accurate And Well-Structured.

●       Monitor And Communicate Regulatory Developments:

Monitor Government Gazettes, Ira Circulars, And Legal Publications For Regulatory Updates Affecting The Insurance Industry.

●       Compliance Audit And Review Management: -

Lead Preparation For Internal And External Audits By Organizing Documentation, Preparing Audit Schedules, And Briefing Relevant Departments.

●       Data Protection Compliance Management: -

Own And Maintain The Register Of Data Processing Activities Documenting Personal Data Collected And Processing Purposes. Manage Responses To Data Subject Rights Requests Including Access Requests, Rectification, And Deletion Requests Within Statutory Timeframes.
