MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Role Purpose

This position will effectively implement preventive, condition based and breakdown maintenance at the Plant for all mechanical machines, equipment and plant facilities for maximum efficiency and reliability.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

General Technical

• Trouble shooting of machines faults.
• Carrying out on-the-run inspection and condition monitoring maintenance
• Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance machines as per laid down instructions and procedures to ensure a smooth running
• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and plant facilities 
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Logging details of work performed on data records to enable further action, planning for next service and storage as history. 
• Oiling and greasing of machines to ensure smooth running of rotating parts. 
• Boiler operations and basic maintenance.

Maintenance Costs Management

• Ensure accurate stock management of spares and consumables.
• Initiating purchase requisition for machine spare parts for maintenance
• Monitor utility usage on weekly basis & control any deviation.

Safety Health and Environment (SHE) & Food Safety

• Ensure timely closure of maintenance related SHE actions.
• Report all Quality ad food safety issues that maybe encountered during daily operations
• Ensure external contractors are properly inducted on safety, health and environment matters.

Skills & Experience

• BSc Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering plant option or (Diploma Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering Technician
• 3 years working experience in maintenance of Industrial Machinery and equipment
• A good understanding knowledge in machines trouble shooting, condition-based and preventive maintenance.
