Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site assessments, including solar irradiance studies, shading analysis, structural evaluations, and electrical assessments.
  • Design efficient and cost-effective solar PV systems using industry-standard design and simulation software.
  • Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals based on client requirements.
  • Develop engineering drawings, layouts, single-line diagrams, and system documentation.
  • Perform system performance analysis, energy yield calculations, and financial optimization.
  • Design Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid solar solutions.
  • Work closely with sales, procurement, project management, and installation teams throughout project execution.
  • Provide technical support during design, installation, commissioning, and post-installation phases.
  • Ensure compliance with EPRA regulations, Kenyan standards, and international engineering best practices.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and site inspections.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in solar PV system design and engineering.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and solar design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, PVCase, or PV*SOL.
  • Strong understanding of solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), electrical design principles, and system optimization.
  • Knowledge of EPRA regulations, IEC/IEEE standards, and Kenyan electrical and building codes.
  • Valid EPRA T3 License is mandatory.
  • Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya is an added advantage.
  • Valid driving licence will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project coordination skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across the country.
