About Innovations for Poverty Action: Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to discovering and promoting effective solutions to global poverty problems.
In close partnership with decision makers -- the policymakers, practitioners, investors, and donors working with the poor around the world -- IPA designs and evaluates potential solutions to poverty problems using randomized evaluations, the most rigorous evaluation method available. We also mobilize and support these decision makers to use these solutions to build better programs and policies at scale.
About the Project: The Daycare Evaluation Program (DEP) Project is a project that seeks to evaluate the market - and firm-level impacts of an innovative social franchising model implemented by Kidogo that aims to improve childcare quality and access in multiple Counties in Kenya. The evaluation is led by PIs from Ohio State
University, University of Vermont and Villanova University.
The project undertook baseline activities in the first quarter of 2024. The Midline was completed this year and Endline expected in 2026. The project has its activities in Busia, Bungoma, Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Nairobi, Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado, Mombasa and Kilifi Counties.
About the Position: The Field Officer under the general supervision of the Field Manager and within the limits of Innovations for Poverty Action-Kenya policies and procedures will primarily be responsible for collection of high-quality data in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities
Below is a list of some of the general duties and responsibilities of the Field Officer, to be carried out as needed according to the determination of the Field Manager.
- Data collection which includes conducting in-person and phone surveys and provide feedback on Survey CTO programming.
- Assist in survey translations.
- Carry out Child Assessments with children 3 years and above.
- Conduct Anthropometric measurements on kids.
- Interact with study respondents and project partners with the highest level of integrity and understanding.
- Ensure that data integrity is maintained always and minimize errors in data collection and transmission.
- Completion of scheduled activities each day in a timely manner including keeping logs of work accomplished and callbacks as assigned by the SFO and the DEP Project management.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Field Manager/Project management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in social sciences, public policy, or related fields.
- At least 1 year of field research experience.
- Previous experience collecting data using SurveyCTO in-person and over phone.
- Demonstrated experience in tracking respondents.
- Adept in survey translation with great communication skills.
- Flexible, self-motivated and able to work efficiently under minimal supervision.
Desired
- Experience conducting child assessments and anthropometric measurements (desired).
- Candidates who are from or are comfortable working in Nairobi, Nakuru, Naivasha, Kajiado, Kiambu, Machakos, Mombasa, Kilifi North, Kilifi South, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega, Bungoma and Busia.
