Job Description/Requirements
Role Purpose: We are seeking an Auditor – FSMS to support and participate in food safety audits under ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and HACCP standards. This role is ideal for a professional passionate about food safety and regulatory compliance, looking to contribute to safer food supply chains and develop into a lead auditor role over time.
- Conduct FSMS audits as part of an audit team, under the guidance of a Lead Auditor, for various food industry clients.
- Assess client processes and food safety management systems against relevant standards (ISO 22000, FSSC 22000) and frameworks like HACCP, as well as benchmark schemes such as BRCGS and IFS when applicable.
- Support audit planning and preparation, including reviewing client documentation and assisting in the development of audit plans and checklists.
- Perform on-site evaluations of food processing operations, observing practices in production, hygiene, packaging, storage, and distribution to identify compliance or nonconformities.
- Document objective findings and prepare clear, factual audit reports that highlight both compliance areas and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain strict impartiality, integrity, and professionalism throughout the audit process, ensuring that all findings are evidence-based and aligned with our certification body requirements.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, Veterinary Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Certification & Training: Completed Auditor training course based on ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021-1. Specific training in FSMS standards (ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000) and familiarity with ISO/IEC 22003-1:2022 program requirements for FSMS certification.
- Auditing Experience: Participation in at least 4 FSMS audits (ideally per year), with some audits in high-risk or perishable food sectors (e.g. meat, dairy, seafood, fresh produce). Exposure to multiple food industry environments – from manufacturing to catering – is advantageous for a well-rounded perspective.
- Good knowledge of food safety principles and standards: working understanding of Codex HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and other relevant standards, as well as awareness of applicable food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail during facility inspections. Proficient in asking insightful questions, active listening, and analyzing processes to detect potential food safety risks.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills – able to clearly articulate findings, nonconformities, and recommendations in written reports and during closing meetings.
- Personal attributes include integrity, impartiality, professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and a genuine passion for food safety. Must be organized and able to manage time effectively during audits.
- Industry Experience: Hands-on experience in the food industry (such as quality control, production, or hygiene supervision in a food company) is a plus, as it provides practical insight into the processes being audited.
- A clear pathway for career growth, including mentorship and training to progress into a Lead Auditor role for FSMS.
- Opportunities to expand your expertise across different food chain categories (e.g., processing, hospitality, packaging, distribution), gaining experience in diverse sectors of the food industry.
- A professional, innovative, and supportive working environment that values your development and upholds our core values in everyday work.
- Competitive remuneration, with performance-based incentives as you grow in the role.
