JOB TITLE: CARPENTER
NATURE OF JOB: FULL TIME
SALARY: KSHS.30,000
JOB LOCATION: KIAMBU ROAD

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Technical Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.
  • Material Selection: Identify and select appropriate wood types and materials for each project, considering durability, aesthetics, and client requirements.
  • Cutting and Shaping: Measure, mark, and cut wood pieces with precision using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machines.
  • Assembly & Joinery: Construct furniture and woodwork items by assembling components using joints, screws, nails, adhesives, or other fastening methods.
  • Finishing Work: Sand, polish, varnish, paint, or stain wooden surfaces to achieve smooth, durable, and visually appealing finishes.
  • Machine Operation & Maintenance: Safely operate woodworking machinery and power tools; perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
  • Quality Control: Inspect work at various stages to ensure it meets quality standards, client specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Repairs & Refurbishment: Repair, restore, or refurbish damaged furniture to extend its lifespan and maintain functionality.
  • Workshop Safety & Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment; ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with designers, supervisors, and team members to meet project timelines and client expectations.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
  • Diploma or vocational training in Carpentry, Woodwork, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in furniture making
  • Strong knowledge of wood types, joints, construction techniques, and finishing methods.
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality, durable, and visually appealing furniture
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with accuracy
  • Skilled in using and maintaining carpentry machinery and hand tools
  • Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • Reliable, hardworking, and able to work with minimal supervision
