Job Summary

The Technical Sales Agent plays a key role in supporting the development, growth, and competitive positioning of the company’s computing, mobile, and electronics product categories. Working closely with product agents, suppliers, and internal teams, the position is responsible for sourcing new products, onboarding brands and vendors.

Job Description/Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES
The role of the Technical Sales Agent involves :

  • Development of all category product lines and enhancing the existing products.
  • Onboarding new brands, vendors, and products.
  • Getting new products as soon as the suppliers have them.
  • Negotiating product prices and payment terms.
  • Handling relationships with new and current suppliers.
  • Ensure product population on the website and maintain accurate and complete product-related information.
  • Identify process improvements to achieve goals related to product marketing and customer service.
  • Having an accurate knowledge of the competition.
  • Provide competitive analysis on various vendors’ market offerings; identify market trends, pricing or business model.
  • Analyzing consumer buying behavior and predicting future trends.
  • Getting the periodic computing, mobile networking and electronics products promotional material from the suppliers.
  • Work with Managers and marketing teams to ensure that products and services meet customers’ current and future needs.
  • Responsible for pricing products in liaison with purchasing and finance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least a B (Plain) grade  in High School/KCSE.
  • At least a bachelor's degree for attending training (not distance/online) on either information science, information technology/computer science, business or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in computing/electronics-related sales/purchasing.
  • Exceptional commercial awareness of the computing and electronics field.
  • Must be proficient with PCs and Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Must be an advanced internet user.
  • Must be willing to engage in field work.
  • Willing to work on weekends.

  • Must be exceptionally self-disciplined and have a very strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English.
  • Strong communication and follow-up skills.
  • Proactive, Entrepreneurial, and ability to deliver exceptional results.
  • Advanced research skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A good standard of numeracy to analyze facts and figures.
  • A flair for negotiation and networking.
  • The ability to make important decisions.
  • The ability to cope with the pressure of a demanding work environment.
  • To have confidence in their judgment & decision making when faced with ambiguity.
  • To be able to multitask and be an effective problem solver.
  • Tact and diplomacy.
