OpenShift Engineer
Job summary
The OpenShift Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise infrastructure platforms, including storage systems, server hardware, bare metal environments, SAN fabrics, and container platforms such as OpenShift and Kubernetes. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in managing complex infrastructure environments with high availability, performance, and security requirements.

Designation: OpenShift Engineer (Infrastructure & Platform Implementation)
Location: Nairobi, Kenya (Onsite)
Years of Experience: 3–6 Years
Key Responsibilities:
Storage Management:
Design, implement, and manage enterprise storage solutions (SAN, NAS), including provisioning, monitoring, capacity planning, and troubleshooting. Experience with storage arrays such as Dell EMC, NetApp, or HPE is preferred.
Server & Virtualization Infrastructure:
Manage and maintain physical servers, virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), and bare metal deployments. Ensure optimal performance, availability, and lifecycle management of server infrastructure.
Bare Metal Infrastructure:
Deploy, configure, and manage bare metal servers with a strong understanding of hardware components and their interactions.
SAN Switch Management:
Configure and manage SAN switches (Brocade, Cisco MDS), including zoning, fabric management, performance tuning, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
Kubernetes Expertise:
Design, implement, and support Kubernetes clusters ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance. Develop and maintain Kubernetes manifests, configurations, and automation scripts.
Troubleshoot Kubernetes-related issues and manage networking components such as ingress controllers and service meshes. Monitor cluster health and performance using appropriate monitoring tools.
OpenShift Expertise:
Design, deploy, administer, and secure OpenShift clusters. Troubleshoot OpenShift platform issues
and manage networking, RBAC, and resource allocation effectively.
Infrastructure Automation:
Develop and implement automation using scripting and infrastructure tools to streamline
deployment, operations, and maintenance tasks.
Monitoring, Performance & Optimization:
Monitor infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to ensure
optimal system efficiency.
Troubleshooting & Collaboration:
Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues while collaborating closely with
cross-functional teams.
Documentation & Security:
Create and maintain accurate documentation for infrastructure configurations and procedures.
Implement and enforce security best practices across infrastructure components.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Strong understanding of storage technologies (SAN, NAS).
• Proficiency in server hardware, virtualization, and bare metal deployments.
