Key Responsibilities
o Reading and Interpreting Plans
Study construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine formwork
requirements.
Ensure measurements, shapes, and levels are accurate.
1. Preparing Materials and Tools
o Select, measure, cut, and assemble formwork materials (timber, metal, plastic, etc.).
o Check tools and equipment before use.
2. Building and Installing Formwork
o Construct, assemble, and secure formwork (moulds/shuttering) into place.
o Install formwork for foundations, columns, beams, walls, slabs, staircases, and other concrete structures.
o Ensure formwork is properly aligned, leveled, and braced for safety.
3. Pouring and Finishing Concrete
o Assist in the pouring, spreading, and leveling of concrete into prepared formwork.
o Apply vibration or compaction methods to eliminate air pockets.
o Strip and dismantle formwork once the concrete sets, without damaging the structure.
4. Safety and Compliance
o Follow site safety rules and regulations at all times.
o Use protective equipment (helmets, gloves, harnesses, boots, etc.).
o Ensure scaffolding and working platforms are safe and secure when formwork is at heights.
5. Repair and Maintenance
o Repair and reuse formwork systems when possible.
o Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good condition.
6. Teamwork and Communication
o Work closely with site supervisors, engineers, and fellow construction workers.
o Report any issues, hazards, or material shortages promptly.
