We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive production manager to lead and manage all aspects of plant operations, production planning, and resource optimization. The Production Manager is responsible for aligning manufacturing output with business forecasts, implementing robust Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems, and driving operations.

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities

·       Develop, implement, and manage weekly/monthly production schedules to meet customer demand and sales targets

·       Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to align production with business forecasts

·       Monitor workflows and output to ensure maximum productivity and minimal waste

·       Apply Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies to drive operational efficiency

·       Plan shift structures and resource allocation to maximize plant capacity and minimize downtime.

·       Lead MRP implementation and ensure accurate forecasting of raw material needs

·       Monitor inventory turnover rates and address overstocking or stockouts

·       Requisition raw materials based on production schedules and demand forecasts

·       Track material usage, batch codes, and wastage through ERP systems

·       Establish and maintain stringent quality control measures in line with ISO 9001 and other standards

·       Lead Six Sigma or Kaizen initiatives to reduce defects and improve process efficiency

·       Monitor KPIs such as First Pass Yield (FPY), Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO), and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)

·       Collaborate with the Chemist to improve product formulations and cost efficiency.

·       Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules

·       Apply Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies to reduce downtime and extend equipment life

·       Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across availability, performance, and quality metrics

·       Lead and manage production supervisors, operators, maintenance personnel, and quality control staff

·       Identify skill gaps and implement training programs to upskill employees

·       Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement improvement plans

·       Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

·       Ensure compliance with OSHA and other local/international safety regulations

·       Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations

·       Oversee environmental management including waste control and pollution prevention

·       Oversee ERP/MRP system integration to streamline production and inventory management

·       Use Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and ERP data to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements

·       Drive cost reduction initiatives through optimized resource use and labor efficiency

·       Prepare detailed weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on production output, OEE, waste reduction, and downtime

·       Collaborate with finance to provide accurate production cost data for P&L management

·       Monitor KPIs such as On-Time Delivery (OTD), Production Downtime, and Yield Rates

·       Present findings and strategic recommendations to senior management

·       Develop long-term production strategies and capacity expansion plans

·       Lead plant-wide change initiatives and culture development 

·       Stay current with industry trends and recommend new technologies to enhance production capabilities.


Minimum Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Production Engineering or equivalent.

·       Experience in construction materials production (cement, cabro, roofing sheets, adhesives etc.) preferred.

·       Strong knowledge of production systems, supply chain, and lean manufacturing.

·       7–10 years’ experience in manufacturing, with at least 3–5 in a managerial capacity.

·       Solid understanding of production planning and process optimization.

·       Financial and cost management awareness.

·       High interpersonal and communication skills.
