Position: Data Manager
Location: Kisumu County
Reporting to: Study Coordinator
Job Purpose:
The Data Manager will provide expertise in the implementation of the Kulindana Project, which aims to expand access to tuberculosis preventive therapy (TPT). He/she will oversee data collection, entry, quality assurance, and reporting to ensure that study data are accurate, secure, and consistent with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and study protocols. He/she will be responsible for monitoring study progress, developing dashboards, troubleshooting data-related problems, and ensuring data security and integrity in accordance with GCP guidelines, the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019, and the study protocol.
The data manager will ensure data integrity and completeness by reviewing source documents, resolving discrepancies, and collaborating closely with the clinical teams.

Description of duties
- Create and enforce policies for effective data management.
- Monitor and analyse information and data systems, troubleshoot data-related problems, and ensure data security and integrity.
- Evaluate study data for protocol compliances and development of study-related SOPs
- Preparation of electronic devices for data collection
- Aggregate and clean data using standard Data Quality Audit (DQA) approaches.
- Manage IT infrastructure at the research sites
- Backing up data routinely and ensuring data security and confidentiality
- Develop and maintain databases, backups, and filing systems for projects data
- Building skills and capacity of study staff and facility health care workers in data management and use of data for program improvement and sustainability
- Writing weekly, monthly, and quarterly study reports; analysis and mining of study data; advice; and promotion of best practices in monitoring and evaluation.
- Ensure quality management of study data through execution of regular data quality audits, an onsite data verification exercise, and mentorship.
- Respond to data queries as requested.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills Required
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or applied statistics.
- Must have experience using REDCap and/or ODK.
- At least 3 years of experience working on research projects.
- Proficient in data analysis using Stata or R – Stata most preferred.
- Proficient in excel in generating and analyzing study reports.
- Experience as a data manager in a multi-site project will be an added advantage.
- Must be trained in human subjects protection/good clinical practice
- Has excellent computer skills.
- Team player with ability to work closely with other study staff.
- Excellent communication skills: Must be able to communicate to the study participants well and with PI via email and Skype
- Team player with the ability to work closely with other study staff at the site.
- Database management skills
