Veterinary Doctor

Key Responsibilities

• Examine animals to diagnose diseases, infections, injuries, and other health conditions.
• Develop and implement treatment, medication, and vaccination plans.
• Perform surgical operations and emergency medical procedures.
• Monitor animal recovery and provide follow-up treatment and care.
• Administer anesthesia and ensure safe surgical procedures.
• Conduct laboratory tests and interpret diagnostic results.
• Advise pet owners and animal handlers on animal nutrition, hygiene, and preventive healthcare.
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment reports.
• Ensure compliance with veterinary regulations and ethical standards.
• Promote humane treatment and welfare of animals at all times.
• Provide professional consultation and client support services.
• Collaborate with veterinary assistants and other healthcare personnel to ensure effective service delivery.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVM) or equivalent qualification.
• Registered and licensed by the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB).
• Proven experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of animal diseases, diagnostics, surgery, and treatment procedures.
• Ability to handle animals safely and professionally.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• High level of integrity and professionalism.
