Job summary
Responsible for reviewing, developing, and refining manuscripts to ensure they meet high standards of clarity, accuracy, coherence, and quality. Works closely with authors, designers and Chief Editor to shape content into well-structured, engaging, and publishable books aligned with the organisation’s vision and target
Job descriptions & requirements
Manuscript Development and Editing
Review submitted manuscripts for structure, content, and language quality
.Edit content for content, level, scope, grammar, punctuation, spelling and style.
Improve clarity, flow, tone, and readability of texts.
Ensure consistency in voice, terminology, and formatting.
Content Alignment and Quality Assurance
Ensure content aligns with curriculum requirements (e.g., CBC/KICD where applicable).
Verify factual accuracy and relevance of information.
Maintain editorial standards and publishing guidelines.
Author Liaison and Support
Work closely with authors to develop and refine manuscripts.
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to improve content.
Manage revisions and ensure deadlines are met.
Proofreading and Final Checks
Conduct final proofreading before publication.
Check layout, formatting, captions, and references.
Identify and correct errors in typeset proofs.
Collaboration with Production Team
Coordinate with designers, illustrators, and typesetters.
Review page layouts and ensure visual-text harmony.
Approve final drafts for printing or digital publishing.
Project Management
Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously.
Track progress and ensure timely delivery of manuscripts.
Maintain records of edits, revisions, and approvals.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Business Studies, or related field.
Proven experience in editing books, educational materials, or publications.
Strong command of written English (UK preferred for CBC contexts).
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Familiarity with publishing tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign is an added advantage).Knowledge of CBC curriculum and KICD guidelines
Experience in developing learner’s books, teacher’s guides, or assessments
Ability to align content with Specific Learning Outcomes (SLOs)
