1. Role Summary
The Field Manager will oversee all agricultural operations across the current 50 acres of mixed crops (30 acres of avocado, 3 acres of passion fruit, and 10 acres of herbs)as well he will oversee the success of any new expansions in the farm. He or she will ensure optimal production, adherence to agronomic best practices, efficient use of resources, and compliance with food safety and sustainability standards. The position requires hands-on supervision, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate field workers, irrigation, pest control, and post-harvest activities.
2. Key Responsibilities
• Ability to ride motorbike
• Crop Management
• Plan and supervise all field operations: land preparation, planting, pruning, weeding, fertilization, pest/disease control, and irrigation.
• Implement crop calendars for avocado, passion fruit, and herbs according to seasonal cycles.
• Monitor crop health and growth stages; report any stress, deficiencies, or disease outbreaks.
• Coordinate harvest schedules to meet quality and volume targets.
• Personnel Supervision
• Manage and train field workers, ensuring efficient labor allocation and adherence to safety and hygiene standards.
• Keep daily labor records and ensure compliance with labor regulations and company policies.
• Irrigation & Fertigation
• Operate and maintain irrigation systems ensuring adequate water supply for all crops.
• Oversee fertigation programs based on soil and leaf analysis, coordinating with agronomists.
• Pest & Disease Management
• Implement integrated pest management (IPM) protocols using approved agrochemicals and organic options where possible.
• Maintain spray records, ensure correct dosage and application safety procedures.
• Record Keeping & Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of inputs, yields, labor, and field activities.
• Prepare weekly and monthly field reports for management review.
• Quality, Safety & Sustainability
• Enforce Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), GlobalG.A.P., or organic certification standards as applicable.
• Ensure waste is properly managed and promote environmentally sustainable farming practices.
• Coordinate with quality teams for traceability and compliance audits.
• Logistics & Maintenance
• Supervise use and maintenance of farm equipment, tools, and storage facilities.
• Assist in procurement planning of inputs and fuel.
3. Qualifications & Experience
• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in managing mixed-crop farms or horticultural plantations (experience with avocado preferred).
• Strong leadership and organizational skills with ability to manage seasonal labor.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, crop nutrition, and pest management.
• Computer literacy (Excel, WhatsApp reporting, basic farm management software).
• Valid driving license (motorbike or vehicle) preferred.
