Finance and Operations Lead

Location: Utawala, Nairobi (Opposite Family bank, along the Eastern Bypass)

Reports To: Managing Director

2) Key Responsibilitiesa) Financial Leadership

i. Develop, implement, and monitor financial strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives.

ii. Prepare and review budgets, forecasts and monthly management reports.

iii. Ensure accurate and timely bookkeeping, reconciliation, and financial reporting.

iv. Manage cash flow, working capital, and credit control to sustain business operations.

v. Oversee tax compliance and liaise with auditors, bankers, and other stakeholders.

vi. Analyse cost structures and recommend cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

b) Operations Management

i. Oversee daily operations of the business, including procurement, warehousing, logistics, and retail sales.

ii. Optimize stock levels — ensuring the right balance between availability and working  capital efficiency.

iii. Establish and monitor operational KPIs such as inventory turnover, order fulfillment rates, and customer satisfaction.

iv.  Manage supplier relationships, negotiate terms, and ensure timely replenishment.• Streamline processes and introduce systems to enhance efficiency, accountability and data visibility.

c) Leadership and Team Management

i. Provide direction and leadership to all departments — finance, store operations, sales, and logistics.

ii. Build, mentor, and motivate a results-oriented team culture.

iii. Set performance targets and conduct regular evaluations for staff.

iv. Foster teamwork and accountability across all departments.

d) Strategic Planning and Growth

i. Work closely with the Managing Director to set strategic goals and execute growth plans.

ii. Conduct market and profitability analysis to support expansion and diversification decisions.

iii. Develop business insights and present recommendations for sustainable growth.

iv. Drive continuous improvement in customer experience, pricing, and service delivery.

3) Qualifications and Experience

i. Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

ii. CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.

iii. Minimum of 3 years of experience in finance and operations management, preferably in retail, hardware, or building materials sectors.

iv. Proven experience in inventory and supply chain management.

v. Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.

vi. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

vii. Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems.
