Job Brief: Facilitate and oversee all aspects of mill plant and equipment maintenance and support the overall objective of achieving the most efficient, effective, and economical mill plant operation while ensuring health and safety, food safety and quality availability requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement and maintain an effective Preventive Maintenance (PM) program.
• Perform maintenance management by supervising maintenance personnel and establishing priorities in mill maintenance schedules.
• Oversee an efficient operation and maintenance of flour milling machines for maximum yield and productivity.
• Plan and oversee installation, maintenance and repair of mill assets and facility-plant equipment, systems, pneumatic systems, and facility structure / services.
• Maintain mill assets and facility,
• Effectively assist in managing and controlling maintenance costs and budget
• Provide training and continuous development on all maintenance personnel.
• Drive the Mill Maintenance and reliability initiative focused on Preventive & Predictive Maintenance, not reactive.
• Maintain transparent and effective communication with Production, QA, OH&S teams always.
• Participate in designing and developing future mill production capacities by attending design meetings.
• Coordinating with Research & Development regarding product changes and improvements.
• Review and maintain all maintenance operating procedures and schedules to incorporate the changes.
• Responsible for maintaining Food Safety and Quality Systems as assigned.
Accountabilities.
The Head of Maintenance is accountable for the following:
• Mill production Efficiency and effectiveness and full optimization.
• Turn round on plant/ equipment installations.
• Prevent Maintenance reports.
• Availability of records on repair action on plant and equipment.
• Safety compliance and staff performance.
• Cleanliness of equipment.
Requirements
Education and Key qualification Requirements.
• A degree in related fields of Engineering, Milling Science or equivalent.
• A minimum of 7 years of hands-on flour production and maintenance experience.
• Thorough working knowledge of all Milling equipment, systems, processes and methods.
• At least a Flour Milling Certification
• Experienced miller is an added advantage
• Strong background in HAACP; safety; GMP.
• Strong knowledge/experience managing mill plant maintenance through Computerized Maintenance Management system.
