Role Purpose: We seek an experienced Lead Auditor – FSMS to lead and deliver high-quality food safety audits. In this role, you will provide strong technical expertise and leadership in managing audit teams, ensuring impartial and objective assessments that add value to our clients’ food safety management systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead FSMS audits (ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, HACCP) across relevant food chain categories, ensuring thorough coverage of all critical control points.
  • Plan and manage audit teams, including scheduling, team briefings, and offsite/onsite audit activities, to ensure effective audit execution.
  • Deliver accurate and comprehensive audit reports with clear findings, conclusions, and actionable improvement insights for clients.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and requirements during audits, including ISO/IEC 17021-1 (certification body requirements), ISO 19011 (auditing guidelines), ISO/IEC 22003-1 (FSMS certification program requirements), and internal CB procedures.
  • Act as a technical resource on FSMS best practices, guiding clients and mentoring auditors on food safety principles and improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Nutrition, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • Certification & Training: Certified Lead Auditor training in FSMS (ISO 22000/FSSC 22000) based on ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021-1. In-depth understanding of HACCP principles and ISO/TS 22003 requirements for food safety.
  • Auditing Experience: Minimum of 20 audit days (with at least 4 full FSMS audit cycles as an auditor-in-training), including audits in high-risk food sectors (e.g. slaughterhouses, chilled/frozen foods, catering) and other food industry segments. This broad exposure across food processing, hospitality/catering, packaging, and logistics ensures a well-rounded perspective on food safety risks.
  • Competence in all phases of the audit process: document review, audit planning, on-site assessment, team leadership, and reporting of audit results.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations, including Codex HACCP guidelines, ISO 22000 family standards, KEBS food safety standards, and key international food laws (EU, FDA, COMESA). Familiarity with national regulations (public health, meat/fish inspection acts, etc.) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and non-verbal – including effective questioning techniques, active listening, and conflict resolution. Able to communicate findings and requirements clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with integrity and impartiality. Culturally sensitive and able to maintain professionalism in all situations.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and adept at time management, with a strong sense of situational awareness and safety consciousness during audits.

What We Offer:
  • Growth opportunities, including leadership development and exposure to a wide range of food industry sectors.
  • Ongoing professional development and continuous training to keep you at the forefront of food safety and certification practices.
  • A supportive, values-driven workplace that prizes integrity, impartiality, and innovation in service delivery.
