Job Description/Requirements

Role Purpose: We are hiring a Lead Auditor – QMS to conduct and manage ISO 9001 audits for a wide range of organizations. This role involves leading audit teams, ensuring compliance with international certification standards, and delivering high-quality audit reports that provide value added insights to clients. The Lead Auditor – QMS will also mentor junior auditors and contribute to continuous improvement of our certification processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute QMS audits in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements and the auditing guidelines of ISO 19011, ensuring that audits are thorough and impartial.
  • Plan audit engagements from start to finish: develop audit plans, assemble and brief the audit team, and coordinate audit scope and schedule with clients.
  • Manage and evaluate the performance of audit team members during each assignment, ensuring auditors are competent for the scope and that the team operates with objectivity and impartiality.
  • Conduct opening and closing meetings with client management, clearly communicating the audit objectives, scope, findings, and conclusions.
  • Deliver comprehensive, objective, and well-structured audit reports that highlight conformity, non-conformities, and opportunities for improvement in the client’s quality management system.
  • Provide guidance and expert advice to clients and team members on QMS principles, best practices, and interpretations of ISO 9001 requirements to foster improvement (without compromising impartiality).
  • Support the continuous improvement of Qualisol’s certification process, for example by reviewing and updating auditing procedures, sharing lessons learned, and staying current with ISO 9001 revisions or accreditation requirements (ISO/IEC 17021-1).

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field – for example, Quality Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or another technical discipline related to management systems.
  • Certification & Training: Certified Lead Auditor in ISO 9001 (completed formal training based on ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17021-1 requirements). Additional auditor qualifications in other standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.) are an asset.
  • Industry Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in industry or business environments, including 2+ years in a quality management or supervisory role. Practical experience implementing or managing ISO 9001 or similar management systems is highly valued.
  • Audit Experience: Proven auditing track record with a minimum of 10 completed QMS audits, at least 5 of which were as the Lead Auditor. Experience auditing across a variety of sectors (e.g., manufacturing, services, public sector) is preferred, demonstrating the ability to understand different organizational contexts and risks.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements and the concept of risk-based thinking in quality management. Able to assess how organizations identify and address risks and opportunities within their QMS.
  • Good understanding of relevant compliance and regulatory considerations related to quality (e.g., statutory and regulatory requirements that different industries must meet) and how these integrate into a QMS.
  • Excellent leadership and team coordination skills – able to lead an audit team effectively, coach trainee auditors, and foster a cooperative environment.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to ask incisive questions, listen actively, and resolve conflicts or differences of interpretation during audits.
  • Unwavering integrity, professionalism, and impartiality in carrying out audits. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of maintaining situational awareness and safety consciousness during on-site assessments.

What We Offer:
  • An opportunity to play a key role in advancing Africa’s quality assurance and business excellence landscape through impactful auditing work.
  • Continuous learning and career advancement opportunities, including exposure to multiple industries and additional certification schemes, as well as ongoing professional training.
  • A professional environment that values integrity, impartiality, and competence – you will be part of a team that is passionate about upholding high standards and innovation in certification services.
  • Competitive remuneration and benefits, commensurate with your experience and the significance of the Lead Auditor role.
