JOB TITLE:           OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST 


REPORTS TO:      HEAD OF THERAPY


PURPOSE OF THE JOB:


To provide occupational therapy treatment to special needs student’s educational programs in Ubuntu Life Foundation (C.W.C). This job is responsible to individuals and groups to correct specific areas of dysfunction. This job administers occupational therapy assessments to determine a patient/student’s level of functioning relative to their age and educational placement in areas such as fine/gross motor skill development, sensory-motor integration, self-care, and the activities of daily living.


KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1.  To conduct occupational therapy screening and develop individualized treatment plans (TP)through professional judgment and clinical knowledge based on occupational performance deficits in the areas of personal care, Learners role, interaction skills, process skills, play, community integration/work, and communication.
  2. Collaborates with other disciplines (school personnel ) to ensure team understanding of learner’s occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning, and service delivery.
  3. Evaluate the learner’s ability and formulate the learner's occupational profile through various functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observation, checklists, histories, and interviews.
  4. Synthesizes evaluation results into a comprehensive written report that reflects strengths and barriers to learners’ participation in the educational environment; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention.
  5. Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on learners' needs and evaluation results.
  6. Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual education plans and intervention plans to achieve IEP goals.
  7. Coordinates with the IEP team to determine appropriate treatments, etc. to meet the needs of specific learners and attends IEP Team Meetings.
  8. Issue reports to the Head of OT.
  9. Adheres to the occupational therapy code of ethics.
  10. Participates in continuing educational and professional growth objectives.
  11. Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
