Job Description/Requirements

Role Purpose

This position will be responsible for production of quality and safe products that meet customer and legal requirements. Ensures that the plant adheres to all food safety management system requirements.

Key duties and responsibilities

Ensure all finished products released from the site meet customer & legal requirements.

Ensure all raw materials, ingredients and packaging materials meet company specifications.

Implement and sustain all FSMS and Quality Standards

Monitor all process controls and records to ensure compliance as per applicable FSMS standards and company procedures.

Schedule and ensure all internal and external audits are conducted and reports shared.

Develop corrective actions for all FSMS & quality audits and track closure.

Manage and organize the work of the food safety team as the Food Safety Team Leader.

Conduct food safety meetings and document the minutes.

Report to top management on the effectiveness and suitability of the FSMS.

Prepare and implement the annual quality plan including all the FSMS activities.

Review all QA/FSMS documents and records as per the quality plan FSMS requirements.

Ensure calibration and servicing of all QA equipment.

Manage site QA inventory module to ensure reagent and consumable availability.

Monitor and improve the competency/skills of QA assistants to ensure accuracy in analysis through PT samples analysis, TWI, skills

evaluation and training.

Drive cost efficient and effective practices within the department translating to total business efficiency.

Manage outsourced laboratory services and ensure all laboratory suppliers meet/exceed expectations in terms of quality, cost and


Renew all products permits (S-Mark, F-Mark, D-Mark)

Ensure timely payment of QA related levy fees.

Identify and communicate customer quality needs and expectations.

Build effective relations with internal and external customers.

Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Science and Technology.

Minimum working experience of 3 years in a busy food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical company at supervisory level.

Knowledge of the production process

Training in ISO 22000, HACCP

Competent in the following packages: Word, Excel and Power point.

Good interpersonal, people management and coordination skills.

Statistical process control knowledge an added advantage.

Good Analytical, Problem solving, interpersonal and people management skills.

Ability to practice high levels of confidentiality and integrity.

Able to communicate effectively with external parties and other senior managers
