Job Title: Quality Control Supervisor

Department: Quality Control (Operations)


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: QA&QC Manager

Direct Reports: Quality Control Team Leader

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Control

• Develops and enforces Quality Control policies, procedures, and budgets in line with relevant industry best practices.

• Reviews Quality Control procedures, and initiates plans to continually improve existing product quality.

• Interfaces and liaises with the production team to ensure the production of quality Cans for GZI’s customers.

• Directs and coordinates the activities of GZI’s Quality Control function.

• Initiates quality control processes and procedures by establishing product specifications and quality attributes within GZI.

• Performs continual quality control checks to ensure production is running within specifications.

• Inspects and tests products for quality defects in the manufacturing process and reports issues and concerns to the relevant department(s).

• Ensures online manual testing and inspections are carried out during the production process to detect Cans that do not meet with quality and customers’ specifications.

• Coordinates the inspection of quarantined products before they are shipped to customers.

• Initiates and coordinates the collection of quality control data throughout the production process.

• Reviews and presents daily quality reports and records during production meetings.

• Reviews customer complaints and directs them to the appropriate department for resolution.

• Conducts process control audits as required.

• Assists with customer audits to ensure SOP specifications are adhered to.

• Tracks trends and variables in the manufacturing process using Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods.

• Ensures the prompt recording and filing of material and product information to aid product traceability.

• Analyses spoilage, records causes, and takes corrective actions where applicable.

• Maintains and calibrates gauges for quality testing equipment.

• Produces, review and approve Certificate of Conformance (COC) for the finished goods.

• Hands over finished goods to the warehouse for appropriate storage.


People Management

• Provides on-the-job training on quality processes and programs.

• Manages and oversees the Quality Control department’s performance through supervision of team performance; Provides constructive feedback to employees to assist with development.

• Provides direction and leadership, ensuring clear strategic objectives are in place to guide the activities of the Department. Integrated Management System Documents, implements and maintains the requirements of the Quality, Food Safety, Environment, Health and Safety management systems


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Education

• Minimum of a First Degree in Chemical, Production or Process Engineering, or related disciplines


Required Experience

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience, 3 of which must be in a supervisory position within the manufacturing company
