Key Responsibilities
• Assist in reviewing existing formulations and benchmarking them against industry standards.
• Support the scale-up of formulations during pilot and production batches.
• Collect samples and support experimentation with alternative raw materials and additives.
• Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, including routine calibration and workflow optimization.
• Follow all SOPs for R&D, raw material testing, production sampling, and product evaluation.
• Support compliance with KEBS, ISO, and other certification requirements.
• Assist the QC in conducting raw material inspections, in-process audits, and final product tests.
• Report deviations and assist in root-cause investigations under the guidance of the QC.
• Provide technical information and test results used in preparing or updating Technical Data Sheets (TDS).
• Assist in conducting product performance tests (adhesion, open time, slip, shrinkage, water resistance, color consistency, mechanical strength).
• Help analyze production data to identify trends, defects, or patterns linked to customer complaints.
• Recommend quality or process improvements to the QC based on test outcomes and observations.
• Assist in preparing manuals, guides, and training materials.
• Maintain accurate and updated records of lab results, audits, and product certificates.
• Provide the necessary data for monthly and quarterly quality reports.
• Support EHS compliance in laboratory and production operations.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to resolve quality-related issues.2
• Assist procurement in evaluating suppliers based on raw material quality.
• Participate in product development by testing new formulations.
• Provide input on laboratory and testing equipment needs during budgeting discussions.
Minimum Qualifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Quality Assurance, Industrial/Production Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3 years’ experience in quality assurance, preferably in the construction materials or heavy manufacturing sector.
• Strong knowledge of quality control methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen preferred).
• Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment for construction materials.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Solid communication and report-writing abilities.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements in Kenya (KEBS, NEMA).
• Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and quality tools.
• Leadership and team management skills (for QC Manager).
• Ability to remain firm and objective under pressure
