Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Ensure a stable base is set on the ground to erect scaffolding safely and to not use unstable materials for the base.
• Adopt proper fall protection and fall prevention measures during scaffold erection and dismantling, including life vests when working over or adjacent to water.
• Ensure hand rails, toe boards, and safety nets are fixed to prevent accidents and comply and follow carefully instructions.
• Ensure scaffolding is safely dismantled and cleared from the site after use and use only the designated area to store the materials.
• Identify properly the scaffold materials that are defect free in a way that no obstruction and prevent fall of scaffold members. If in doubt, discuss with Supervisor/Foreman.
• Assist the Supervisor/Foreman in conducting inspections and tagging of scaffolding
• Ensure that modification or alteration of scaffold is done with proper authorization and supervision
• Understand the Job Safety Analysis/ Risk assessment, work permit conditions, etc. while working.
• Attend Tool Box Talks and report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts witnessed or observed to the supervisor or to safety personnel.
• Follow instruction only from Scaffolding and Rigging foreman/supervisor/team leader and HSE personnel and as per HSE instructions and policy.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Foreman/Supervisor
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
Education & Professional Qualification:
- Secondary school certificate
Professional Experience:
- 5 - 10 years of experience in heavy engineering industries and rigging
- Shipyard experience will be preferred
Geographic Experience:
- Middle East experience is preferred
Computer Skills:
- Basic knowledge of MS Office and web applications
Language Skills:
- Working knowledge of English (verbal and written)
- Knowledge of other languages will be an added advantage
Market/Industry/Functional Knowledge:
- Math skills for calculating measurements when building scaffolds is an advantage
