About Us: Qualisol Certs Ltd. is expanding its pool of Technical Experts to support our audit teams in specialized areas of Food Safety and Quality Management. Role Purpose: We are seeking Technical Experts in both FSMS and QMS domains who can provide authoritative technical insight during certification audits. Technical Experts will work alongside our Lead Auditors when an audit involves complex or highly specialized processes, ensuring that all
technical aspects of the client’s operations are competently evaluated. This role is typically a parttime or on-call engagement, suitable for experienced professionals or consultants with deep expertise in specific industries looking to contribute to improving standards and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with audit teams as a subject matter expert for specific technical areas during planning, on-site audit, and reporting. Provide clarity on industry-specific processes, hazards, and controls to ensure the audit is technically sound.
- Assess the technical aspects of a client’s operations against relevant standards and regulatory requirements. For FSMS: evaluate critical control points, hygiene practices, process technologies, and food safety plans. For QMS: evaluate specialized processes, product/service quality controls, or technical compliance areas relevant to the industry (e.g. engineering specs, laboratory practices, etc.).
- Advise the Lead Auditor on findings related to your area of expertise, helping to interpret complex data or regulatory requirements. Ensure that any potential major non-conformities in the technical realm are identified and clearly understood by the audit team.
- Assist in audit report writing by contributing detailed observations and conclusions for the technical portions of the audit. Help ensure that recommendations are practical and aligned with industry best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with technological advancements, best practices, and regulatory changes in your field of expertise. Provide training or briefings to our audit team on emerging risks or new compliance requirements in your domain as needed.
- Uphold Qualisol’s values of impartiality and professionalism. While providing expert knowledge, maintain an objective stance and collaborate effectively with the audit team and the client’s personnel.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a discipline relevant to your area of expertise. For FSMS experts, this may include Food Science & Technology, Microbiology, Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Nutrition, Packaging Technology, etc. For QMS experts, relevant fields could include Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, etc.), Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Information Technology, Finance, Public Administration, or other specialized areas depending on the industry.
- Professional Experience: Extensive industry experience (typically 7+ years) in your technical field. You should be a recognized expert or seasoned professional in that domain – for example, an experienced food technologist or quality assurance manager in food production for FSMS, or a senior engineer, healthcare quality manager, financial services expert, etc., for QMS. Hands-on experience implementing industry standards, safety/quality programs, or regulatory compliance in your field is essential.
- Domain Expertise: In-depth knowledge in one or more of the following areas (as applicable to your specialization):
- FSMS Technical Domains: Food processing and manufacturing (animal products, plant products, and/or ambient shelf-stable foods), catering and hospitality operations (restaurants, hotels, institutional food service), food packaging material production, food storage and distribution logistics, retail food handling. You understand the unique safety hazards, production processes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., food safety laws, hygiene regulations) in these settings.
- QMS Technical Domains: Manufacturing sectors (e.g., automotive, electronics, textiles, chemicals), engineering and construction projects, paper and packaging production, healthcare services and pharmaceuticals (including GMP principles), public sector services
- and administration, finance and IT services, or other specialized industries. You are familiar with industry-specific quality standards, regulatory frameworks, and best practices (e.g., GMP for pharma, ISO/TS standards for automotive, IT service management standards, etc.).
- Standards & Regulations Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant management systems standards and regulatory requirements in your area. FSMS experts should have knowledge of standards such as ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, Codex HACCP, and pertinent food safety regulations (national food laws, Codex guidelines, FDA/EFSA regulations, etc.). QMS experts should be well-versed in ISO 9001 principles and how quality management integrates with regulatory requirements of their industry (for example, ISO 13485 for medical devices, ISO 17025 for labs, or local industry regulations).
- Audit/Assessment Familiarity: Previous experience with audits or inspections is highly desirable. While you may not be a certified auditor, you should understand the audit process and be able to function effectively within an audit team. Any auditor training (e.g., ISO 19011 training or internal auditing experience) will be considered a plus.
- Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in your technical area. Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to non-experts (both in writing and verbally). Effective collaboration skills to work with auditors and client staff – you provide expertise without overstepping, respecting the audit process and the lead auditor’s role.
- Professional Traits: High level of integrity and impartiality. As a technical expert, you must provide unbiased opinions based on evidence. You should also be reliable and flexible, available to join audit teams on an as-needed basis and capable of adapting to different work environments.
