Job summary
The Welder is responsible for carrying out welding and metal fabrication works on the construction site to support structural installation, repairs, and maintenance activities while ensuring safety, quality, and project timelines are met.
Job descriptions & requirements
Qualifications:
Ø Minimum KCSE certificate or equivalent.
Ø Professional welding certificate or trade test certification.
Ø At least 3 years of welding experience in construction, fabrication, or industrial projects.
Ø Strong knowledge of welding techniques, tools, and safety standards.
Ø Ability to read technical drawings and measurements accurately.
Ø Physically fit and able to work in demanding site conditions.
Ø Must be highly skilled in Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMA)
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Perform welding works on structural steel, pipes, metal frameworks, and other construction materials.
· Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications.
· Carry out cutting, grinding, fitting, and joining of metal components.
· Operate welding equipment including: Manual Metal, Arc Welding (MMA), MIG, TIG (where applicable).
· Weld in different positions including flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead.
· Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify defects and ensure quality standards are achieved.
· Conduct pre-welding preparation such as cleaning, rust removal, and alignment of materials.
· Perform proper pre-welding preparation including: Rust removal, Degreasing
· Carry out: Preheating, Interpass temperature control, post-heating and hydrogen removal procedures.
· Handle welding work involving: thick plates, High-strength steel and Stainless steel
· Maintain a stable weld pool and produce high-quality welds free from: Porosity, Lag inclusions, Incomplete penetration and Cracks.
