About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned and proactive Accountant to take full charge of the general accounting function of our business. Based in Nairobi, the role involves managing local and international transactions across Africa and beyond, including setting up accounting systems, processes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support the company’s growth.
Key Responsibilities
● Oversee the full spectrum of general accounting operations and financial reporting.
● Set up and maintain effective accounting systems, processes, and internal controls.
● Ensure timely and accurate financial records in compliance with international and local standards.
● Manage tax filings and ensure full compliance with tax regulations within Kenya and in other international jurisdictions.
● Handle cross-border financial transactions and reconcile foreign currency accounts.
● Ensure proper application of customs procedures, tariff classifications, HS codes, and import/export regulations.
● Prepare and present accurate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
● Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities as needed.
● Continuously improve financial procedures and systems to drive efficiency and compliance.
Ideal Candidate Profile
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
● CPA(K) certification is mandatory; registration with ICPAK or a relevant professional body.
● Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably in an international or multinational environment.
● Strong understanding of Kenyan and international tax systems.
● Sound knowledge of customs regulations, HS codes, and international trade compliance.
● Thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
● Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
● Self-motivated, organized, and capable of setting up processes from scratch.
