Assistant Project Lead
Job Summary
Reporting to the Operations and Engineering Lead, the Assistant Projects Lead will be responsible for the oversight management of both operations and Administration on a day-to-day basis of assigned Civil Infrastructure construction projects. They will ensure the projects are delivered and maintained to the highest specifications and standards

Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
(1) Site Management
Ø Produce/ensure implementation and management of the projects’ work schedules.
Ø Ensure the commercial performance of each contract is maximized.
Ø Assume overall responsibility for the successful delivery of projects and works in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Ø Deliver work safely and without environmental incidences and minimal litigations if any.
Ø Deliver work to specified quality without defects.
Ø Draw and implement project plans not limited to waste, issues, time, and risk management plans in line with the company procedures.
Ø Produce procurement schedules and liaise with the procurement department to ensure sites have adequate resources to complete tasks.
Ø Ensure clients instructions are followed to the letter
Ø Ensure the project operations are conducted within the prescribed Laws of Kenya
Ø Ensure that engineering standards are not compromised
(2) Client Interface
Ø Undertake an ambassadorial role representing the business to customers, the public, the judicial system, and other Governmental official bodies.
Ø Deliver project to client’s satisfaction.
Ø Ensure cordial working relationships among our staff
Ø Administer staff discipline with consultation with the Director and Operations lead
Ø Enforce the staff code of conduct
(3) Cost Control
Ø Endeavour to spot and highlight value engineering opportunities. Ø Maximize projects value, minimize expenses, and maximize profitability
Ø Assist in Budgeting and financial forecasting.
(4) Reporting
Ø Conduct daily site inspections and report the Operations of any business risks always outlining possible ways of mitigation.
Ø Produce good quality, accurate weekly and monthly progress reports internally and for the client.
Ø Chair weekly site meetings in line with the company’s procedures.
Ø Share weekly / monthly progress reports with the Director and operations lead
Ø Reporting to the operation lead can be done via telephone, email, or verbally in scheduled meetings depending on the urgency of the matter. Reporting done on Telephone or verbally must be documented soonest possible.
Key Measures and Targets:
Ø Weekly and monthly reporting timescales are met
Ø Adhere to Business Unit Objectives and ensure the Key Performance Indicators measures are met.
Key Relationships:
Ø Clients, stakeholders, and statutory teams.
Ø Subcontractors and suppliers.
Ø Site teams and support departments.
Additional duties:
Any other duty that may arise as directed by the Operations lead
Qualifications Requirements:
-Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture
-5-7 years of experience in project management or leading Engineering role within construction Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and Civil works drawings
-Comfortable in reading and understanding Material Lab test results
-Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software
-Proficient in Civil3D
-Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering, and architecture principles
-Ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs
-High degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions
-Strong leadership and management skills
-Ability to speak and write basic French is an added advantage
