Job Description/Requirements

The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to- policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development. The Center is Africa-based and African-led, with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and a West Africa Regional Office (WARO), in Dakar, Senegal. APHRC seeks to drive change by developing strong African research leadership and promoting evidence-informed decision-making (EIDM) across sub-Saharan Africa. APHRC seeks to recruit an ICT Support Officer to join a team of other IT professionals at the Center.


Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Monitoring of the helpdesk system and general user support within the office.
  • Set up, configure and deploy hardware and software.
  • Set up antivirus and provide day-to-day support.
  • Prepare and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all IT hardware & software.
  • Be familiar with ICT policies and ensure their implementation through staff awareness and training sessions.
  • Manage the disaster recovery process and ensure regular daily backup is taken.
  • Monitor and maintain proper inventory of all ICT hardware and software.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
  • Have knowledge of a variety of hardware, software, and operating systems (e.g. Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and basic Linux operations).
  • Have good knowledge of various hardware, software, and network troubleshooting skills.
