Job summary
The Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) will be responsible for delivering preventive, promotive, and curative oral health services within the community. The role involves direct patient care, oral health education, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals to improve overall community health outcomes.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Provide oral health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients. - Conduct preventive oral health services including scaling, polishing, fluoride application, and simple extractions. - Promote oral health awareness through community outreach, education programs, and school visits. - Support implementation of national oral health policies and programs at the community level. - Maintain accurate patient records and prepare reports for health management teams. - Refer complex cases to dentists or specialized facilities when necessary. - Collaborate with other healthcare providers to integrate oral health into general health services. - Ensure infection prevention and control measures are strictly adhered to.
Qualifications & Experience - Diploma in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution. - Registered and licensed by the relevant regulatory body in Kenya. - 3–4 years of proven experience in oral health service delivery. - Strong knowledge of preventive, promotive, and curative oral health practices. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for community engagement. - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
