JOB LOCATION:KIRINYAGA

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Daily care and maintenance of horticultural crops (planting, weeding, pruning, harvesting).
• Implement irrigation schedules and monitor water usage.
• Monitor plant health and apply fertilizers and pest control as necessary.
• Ensure greenhouse and open-field crops are well maintained and productive.
• Feed and water poultry on a regular schedule.
• Clean and disinfect poultry housing regularly to ensure hygiene.
• Monitor health of birds and report signs of illness or stress.
• Collect and grade eggs (if applicable).
• Maintain poultry production records.
• Supervise and coordinate daily tasks for casual laborers.
• Train casuals on proper farming techniques and safety protocols.
• Ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
• Maintain cleanliness and order around the farm compound.
• Operate and maintain basic farm tools and equipment.
• Participate in regular farm planning and improvement discussions.
• Suggest and implement innovative ideas for productivity and sustainability.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

• Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience in horticulture and/or poultry farming.
• Ability to supervise a small team of casual workers
• Knowledge of basic farm equipment operation and maintenance
• Must be physically fit and willing to work long hours outdoors
• Strong sense of responsibility and initiative
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Basic record keeping and reporting skills
