Our client , a key player in ICT space specializing in enterprise infrastructure and security, are seeking to engage qualified Fibre Optic Technicians to become an integral part of their team.

Role Summary

The Fibre Technician will be in charge of field technicians on ground and will work both in buildings and in the field, and will be responsible for the cable preparation, installation, troubleshooting, repair and other technical aspects, ensuring provision of efficient and quality service.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, resolve, repair and install fibre optics systems and ensure that they work properly.

• Examine and replace faulty and old fibre optic cables and also organize scheduled maintenance routines.

• Perform fibre splicing and rectify fibre optic problem areas.

• Develop sensor indicators and conduct timely inspections to make sure that faulty fibre optic system does not destabilize its performance.

• Execute premises cabling and take care of the underground and underwater cabling requirements

• Keep track of the signal strength of different devices to provide adequate performance

• Formulate and maintain system records and system designs

Candidate Requirements

• Tertiary level education in electronics, telecommunication, computer technology, or any related course.

• At least 3 years work experience in a similar field. 

• Must be willing to travel across Kenya as required

• Industry installation certification such as Siemon, Giganet, Panduit, Molex, etc 

• Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal

• Sound interpersonal skills - ability to interact with customers, vendors, contractors and other relevant stakeholders.

• Ability to adhere to set standards and processes, as well as uphold highest degree of professionalism and ethics.

• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

• Self-disciplined, motivated and organized.
